Creation of the Chess Set:

A set of hand carved, medieval style chess pieces were made  from blocks of  hard plaster. The figures were direct carved with no drawings or models made.  Once completed,  a two part silicone mold  was made of each piece.  Into the mold was poured casting resin mixed with white marble dust.  These became the master models for production molds. The images show these master models and the outdoor cast cement  pieces made from the first set of molds. The pieces are 5"-6" high and fit a 4"x4" square.  The table is custom made to fit the set using black and white tumbled marble set in concrete measuring 32" x 32" x 2" thick.
